Virgin Management LTD London-based office oversees the strategic development of Virgin's global portfolio of businesses across various sectors, including travel, leisure, health, telecommunications, and finance. The company ensures that Virgin's brand values, such as innovation, customer focus, and sustainability, are upheld across its ventures.
I spent time with various departments within the business to learn more about the inner workings of the marketing and graphic design process behind a brand. This firstly included working with the social media team and the communications team, where I was able to see existing projects that they were working on, and the way they formulate and structure posting plans based on analytics. While the main focus is creating content for social media channels, it also includes PR, by organising company events, working on partnerships with other brands, as well as internal projects. For example, the week I was in the office Richard Branson and Simon Squibb launched the 'Elevator of Dreams' project in Virgin Hotels, where the team were required to spread the word on socials, as well as collecting content from the event. This really helped me to understand the process of how the collective departments work together to create outcomes.
I also met with the graphic design team where I got to experience the stages of receiving a brief, communicating ideas, experimenting with ideas and creating outcomes, to deliver back to the creative director, along with some graphic design work for me to complete alongside this. It was an incredible and informative experience that has massively heightened my knowledge and skills for my career. Speaking with the international head designer, as well as one-on-one feedback and conversation with the head of creative and design were definitely highlights of my experience as I found this invaluable.
I have just finished working on helping to re-design the international training manual for the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, specialising in making the layout clear and readable, editing photography and arranging components to display a clear and coherent document fit for purpose. I have attached some pages of the document above.
